Healthcare Introduction

Are you an immigrant nurse, doctor, or other licensed healthcare professional who is currently outside the job market? Then you are welcome to the Healthcare Introduction course.

Healthcare Introduction is a commissioned education program from Region Sörmland in collaboration with Arbetsförmedlingen (the Swedish Public Employment Service).

The course is aimed at individuals who have a medical education from a country other than Sweden, and are in the process of seeking Swedish professional licensure.

The purpose of the course

Healthcare Introduction is not a ”regular” Swedish course. It is a vocationally oriented introduction designed to facilitate your path to employment within the healthcare sector, with Region Sörmland as a potential employer.

  • receive an introduction to the Swedish healthcare system’s organization, structure, and conditions
  • increase your chances of passing the Socialstyrelsen’s (National Board of Health and Welfare) proficiency test with the support of the education.

Course content

  • Swedish language SFI C–C1/SVA3 (Socialstyrelsen’s requirements)
  • Healthcare terminology in Swedish
  • Swedish healthcare system
  • Swedish healthcare culture
  • Documentation
  • Preparation for proficiency tests within your profession

You will study full-time, 40 hours per week. 20–25 hours will be teacher-led lessons, while the rest of the time will be dedicated to independent studies. The course lasts for six months.
